Job Overview:
The Cashier is responsible for managing cash transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies, and handling driver payments in a timely manner. This role also involves performing cash reconciliation and allocation tasks to maintain accurate financial records. The Cashier plays a critical role in the smooth financial operation of the transport company by ensuring that all cash-related activities are executed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Handling:
- Manage daily cash transactions, including receiving, counting, and recording payments.
- Ensure all cash is securely handled and stored according to company policies and procedures.
- Prepare cash deposits and ensure timely submission to the bank or designated authority.
Driver Payments:
- Process driver payments accurately and on time, ensuring all necessary documentation is verified and complete.
- Maintain records of all driver payments and ensure they are aligned with trip records and company policies.
- Address any discrepancies or issues related to driver payments and resolve them promptly.
Compliance:
- Ensure all cash handling activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and financial best practices.
- Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Report any suspicious or fraudulent activities immediately to the relevant authorities.
Cash Reconciliation:
- Perform daily cash reconciliation to ensure that cash on hand matches recorded transactions.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between recorded amounts and actual cash on hand.
- Prepare and submit regular cash reconciliation reports to the Finance Manager.
Cash Allocation:
- Allocate cash to various departments or functions as required, ensuring that funds are distributed accurately.
- Maintain detailed records of cash allocations and ensure that they align with budgetary requirements.
- Assist in forecasting cash needs and ensuring adequate cash flow for operational requirements.
Reporting:
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports to the Finance Manager or relevant stakeholders.
- Provide insights and recommendations for improving cash handling processes and reducing risks.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to cash handling.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a cashier, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of local regulations related to cash handling and financial transactions.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
