COMPANY DESCRIPTIONTerra Sense is a KAUST TIE venture developing autonomous robots that inspect soil and plant health from below the ground, where satellites and drones can't reach. Our solution works in three layers. First, mobility: a quadruped robot called Pianta-1 and a wheeled rover called Cosmo-1 carry our systems into the field. Second, sensing: we fuse in-soil sensing with camera-based AI vision to read plant and soil health directly at the root zone. Third, decision-making: machine learning and edge AI turn that data into real-time insights on a live dashboard, built for whoever needs them, whether that's a farmer, a government body, a park, a municipality, or an operator. ROLE DESCRIPTIONWe need someone to push our robots from manual-assisted operation toward full autonomy. You'll work on the perception and navigation stack that lets both our quadruped and rover platforms move through field terrain on their own, and on the on-device AI models that classify what our fused soil-and-vision sensing system detects. This is an unpaid, experience-based internship, and we mean that as an honest trade, not a downside. You'll be part of the early evolution of Terra Sense's mission, working on real work headed into real field deployments, not a simulated project. Every intern here gets visibility, international participation, and direct mentorship from world-leading advisors and mentors, and if we close our funding round successfully, a track to early hiring. On completion, we also provide a certificate of achievement, which can support an Erasmus internship grant application if your university is eligible. Most of all, you'll be contributing to something that matters, helping farmers fight water scarcity and building toward a greener Saudi Arabia within a greener world.
