Role Overview: Safety Training Manager

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Safety Training Manager to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position is integral to our mission as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor, providing essential equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety education for Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel.

Key Contributions of the Role

The Safety Training Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive safety instruction, developing relevant courseware, and assessing student proficiency in critical safety areas. This role plays a direct part in enhancing the operational safety capabilities of Saudi Arabian forces, aligning with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia's commitment to the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of national capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Instruct students on Workplace and Environmental Safety, with emphasis on safety aspects related to Flying Operations, Airfield Operations, and Aviation & Ground Support Equipment Maintenance/Usage, according to the approved syllabus.
• Develop appropriate courseware based on associated Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and regularly review/recommend changes to relevant subject area courseware and assessment material.
• Deliver or supervise demonstrations, conduct visits to relevant areas of interest, and provide practical/multi-media demonstrations on workplace safety.
• Conduct regular assessments to ensure students are progressing academically and perform phase-end examinations to confirm training objectives have been achieved.
• Adopt and promote independent learning and a military ethos, providing ongoing evaluation of students’ discipline as part of their final assessment and counseling students on academic/discipline issues where applicable.
• Record students’ academic assessment results, lesson attendance, and any discipline issues.
• Provide regular reports concerning student’s academic progress, lesson attendance, and discipline, reporting any other relevant issues as required.
• Apply RSAF procedures for configuration control of curriculum and courseware, including preparing documentation and supporting data for change requests.
• Integrate new training materials or equipment into relevant courses and ensure all training equipment is properly maintained and stored.
• Contribute to the preparation of timetables, scheduling, and allocation of instructors.
• Operate training and operational equipment related to your speciality.
• Ensure compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) policy and processes and Duty of Care responsibilities, undertake all mandatory and developmental training, and adhere to acceptable standards of behaviour, dress, and performance.
• Provide feedback to management to improve service performance and responsiveness, and perform additional tasks as requested by the customer that are reasonable for a professional teacher/instructor.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Must be a graduate of a Service or Civilian Flying or Technical Training Institute.
• Must hold accredited Workplace or Aviation Safety related Qualifications.
• Must be a qualified instructor and have completed a formal Instructional Techniques Course or equivalent.
• Must have experience of safety within a technical-oriented or operational environment.
• Must have recent classroom experience as a Safety Instructor.
• Computer literate, with a fully conversant working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially MS Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable Attributes

• Military Aviation background experience.
• Technical experience in either manufacturing or maintenance.
• Accident Investigation experience.
• Human Factors experience or qualifications.
