We have been mandated by a large global conglomerate for the below mentioned position Position Details: Position: AM / DM / Shift Incharge Operation- Steel Melting Shop Location: Saudi Arabia Qualification: B. Tech/Diploma-Metallurgy/Mechanical/ Production (Full Time Regular) Experience- Post Experience 8+ Years Job Purpose The incumbent will be responsible to lead and control shift operations of the Steel Melting Shop consisting of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective steel production while achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, minimizing downtime, and optimizing process performance. Key Responsibilities Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Operations Operate and supervise Electric Arc Furnace to achieve targeted heat schedules. Monitor complete melting cycle including charging, melting, refining, tapping, and slag management. Optimize electrical energy consumption (kWh/Ton) and electrode consumption (Kg/Ton). Control power-on time, tap-to-tap time, oxygen injection, carbon injection, and chemical additions. Ensure proper scrap charging practices and monitor DRI/HBI charging where applicable. Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance teams during breakdowns. Monitor furnace refractory condition and report abnormalities. Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF) Operations Supervise secondary refining operations. Control steel chemistry according to production requirements. Monitor temperature control before casting. Ensure proper alloy additions and slag conditioning. Optimize refining time and power consumption. Maintain inclusion cleanliness and steel quality. Coordinate with Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) team for timely ladle availability. Production Management Ensure achievement of daily and monthly production targets. Maintain heat sequencing for uninterrupted casting. Optimize productivity and furnace utilization. Minimize process delays and production losses. Monitor key production KPIs and implement corrective actions. Process Control Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Monitor process parameters throughout the heat cycle. Optimize furnace performance for improved yield. Maintain process stability and operational discipline. Ensure proper documentation of production reports. Quality Control Ensure production of steel grades as per customer specifications. Monitor chemical composition and temperature at every stage. Coordinate with Quality Assurance for sample testing. Reduce rejection and rework through effective process control. Improve metallic yield and reduce process losses. Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and permit systems. Promote safe working practices within the shift team. Ensure proper use of PPE. Participate in safety audits and incident investigations. Maintain housekeeping standards across the SMS. Team Management Lead operators, furnace crew, crane operators, and shift personnel. Allocate manpower efficiently during shifts. Train and mentor operators on operational best practices. Conduct shift handover meetings. Ensure discipline and effective communication among team members.
