Director of Data Platforms, E-Commerce – Riyadh, KSAA high-growth, consumer-facing technology organisation in the Middle East is seeking a Director of Data Platforms to lead one of its most strategic capabilities. This is a senior leadership role with ownership of enterprise data platforms, analytics, intelligence, AI enablement, and commercial data products. As the organisation continues to scale rapidly across the region and internationally, data is becoming a core strategic and commercial asset. This role will define how data powers executive decision-making, operational excellence, AI-driven products, and new revenue streams. The successful candidate must be based in Riyadh full time and will work closely with executive leadership across technology, product, commercial, and operations.
The Role:The Director of Data Platforms will combine deep technical platform leadership with enterprise intelligence and monetisation ownership, creating a unified and trusted data capability across the organisation. This role owns the design, delivery, and evolution of:Enterprise-scale data platforms Business intelligence and analytics Predictive and AI-enabled use cases External, revenue-generating data products You will ensure data across the organisation is accurate, trusted, scalable, secure, and commercially valuable.
What you’ll do:Own the end-to-end strategy, architecture, and delivery of a modern, scalable cloud-based data platform supporting batch, streaming, real-time analytics, and AI use cases Ensure data reliability, observability, governance, and production-grade operations across all data pipelines and platforms Lead enterprise-wide business intelligence, executive reporting, KPI frameworks, and self-service analytics capabilities Design and deliver external, revenue-generating data and intelligence products for clients and partners Enable predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven decision-making across products and operations Define and enforce data governance, security, and regulatory compliance (including PDPL and GDPR) Build, lead, and scale high-performing data engineering, analytics, and BI teams, operating as a senior technology leader
Requirements:Essential:15+ years’ experience across data engineering, analytics, BI, architecture, or data science, including senior leadership roles Proven experience working within the E-Commerce sector Proven experience building and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms Track record of transforming data into actionable business insight Experience designing or commercialising external data or insight products Strong expertise with modern data stacks (e.g. cloud data warehouses, streaming platforms, orchestration tools, BI layers) Deep understanding of predictive analytics, ML operations, and AI enablement Experience defining KPI frameworks and executive-level reporting Strong knowledge of data governance, privacy, and regulatory frameworks Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at executive level Desirable:Experience within consumer platforms, marketplaces, events, travel, or entertainment technology Background working with multi-tenant data and analytics platforms Experience delivering market or operational intelligence to enterprise clients
