Senior Civil & Structural Engineer Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Client: Highly discreet, privately owned Saudi developer Project Type: Large-scale mixed-use & ultra-luxury developments
Role Purpose The Senior Civil & Structural Engineer will act as the technical authority for all civil and structural engineering matters across major mixed-use and ultra-luxury developments. The role is responsible for ensuring consultant designs align with project objectives, applicable codes, constructability, cost efficiency, and lean delivery principles.
Key Responsibilities Review, assess, and technically validate all civil and structural designs produced by external consultants Lead and manage consultants to ensure compliance with the project brief, master planning intent, design standards, and authority requirements Provide clear technical direction and rigorously challenge consultant proposals to optimise buildability, efficiency, and cost Coordinate civil and structural interfaces with architectural, MEP, geotechnical, and infrastructure disciplines Review design submissions across all stages: concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFCIdentify, assess, and mitigate technical risks related to ground conditions, structural systems, construction methodology, and sequencing Lead and contribute to value engineering and design optimisation initiatives without compromising safety or performance Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders Support the construction phase through review of RFIs, material submittals, method statements, and design-related change requests Ensure full compliance with local regulations, international codes, and project-specific standards Lead value engineering initiatives from a civil and structural engineering perspective Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred) Minimum 15+ years’ experience in civil and structural engineering Proven experience working with reputable engineering consultancies and/or real estate developers Strong background in reviewing and managing consultant design outputs rather than production-focused design roles Demonstrated experience on large-scale mixed-use, residential, hospitality, or infrastructure projects Solid knowledge of international design codes and local authority approval processes Ability to make sound engineering judgments and confidently challenge consultants Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills Middle East experience is essential; KSA experience is highly desirable Key Competencies Technical leadership Consultant and design governance Value engineering and cost-conscious design Risk identification and mitigation Lean, performance-driven engineering mindset Clear communication and decisive problem-solving
