Job Summary:The Operations Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for advising on operational best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in the banking sector, with a particular focus on the KSA market. Work closely with Program management, Operations teams, and Regulatory teams to improve business operations, mitigate risks, and contribute to the overall success of the program. This individual will act as a key advisor on complex banking operations issues and help lead initiatives related to process improvements, system integration, and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements: Expertise in Banking Operations:Provide expert-level knowledge and guidance on all aspects of banking operations, including transaction processing, account management, financial reporting, and reconciliation. Serve as the go-to advisor for internal teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders on best practices, industry trends, and emerging challenges in the banking sector, particularly within KSA. Regulatory Compliance & Local Requirements:Ensure that all banking operations are compliant with local regulations and standards set by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), Ministry of Finance, and other relevant government bodies. Advise on regulatory changes, ensuring timely adjustments to internal processes and systems. Support the preparation for audits and inspections related to banking operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Operational Strategy & Process Optimization:Lead initiatives to streamline and optimize banking operations, improving efficiency and reducing costs while maintaining compliance. Analyze current operational workflows and propose process enhancements based on industry best practices and technological advancements. Advise on system implementations, upgrades, or replacements to ensure operational excellence. Risk Management & Issue Resolution:Identify and address potential risks in banking operations, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. Assist in resolving complex operational issues by offering expert insights, contributing to root cause analysis, and developing corrective action plans. Training & Knowledge Transfer:Develop and deliver training programs for internal teams to improve operational knowledge and understanding of banking procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements. Mentor and coach staff, sharing industry expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization. Collaboration with Stakeholders:Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, compliance, risk, customer service) to ensure seamless integration of operational processes across departments. Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry associations, and third-party vendors, to stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes. Market Insights and Innovation:Stay abreast of developments in the Saudi banking sector, including technological innovations, regulatory updates, and economic trends. Provide thought leadership on how these changes impact banking operations and contribute to the bank’s strategic objectives. Reporting & Analysis:Provide detailed reports and presentations to senior leadership on operational performance, emerging risks, and recommendations for improvements. Lead the analysis of operational data, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Job Requirements: Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Operations Manager, Lean Six Sigma) is a plus. Experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience in banking, with at least 5-8 years in a senior or advisory role in Banking Operations department within the KSA. In-depth understanding of local banking regulations and compliance requirements, particularly those set by SAMA. Proven track record in improving banking operations, risk management, and process optimization. Experience in managing cross-functional projects and leading operational change initiatives. Skills:Strong knowledge of banking systems, operations workflows, and financial products. Expertise in regulatory compliance within KSA (SAMA regulations, AML, FATF, etc.). Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in banking software, core banking systems, and data analysis tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to lead teams and mentor staff effectively. Fluency in both Arabic and English (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced certifications in banking operations or risk management (e.g., CFA, FRM, Certified Bank Auditor). Experience with digital banking and Fin Tech innovations as they relate to operational processes. Strong network within the banking industry in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region. Project management experience with knowledge of Agile or other methodologies.
