Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Grid Compliance & Field Testing Engineer to support grid code compliance verification through structured field testing, technical assessments, and detailed analysis of test results. The role is critical in ensuring that power plants and inverter-based resources (IBRs) meet contractual, regulatory, and grid code requirements.
Key Responsibilities Participate in and oversee grid compliance field testing activities Review and approve test procedures, sequences, and methodologies Ensure execution of tests in accordance with approved standards and grid codes Analyze and validate test results against applicable Grid Code requirements Identify non-compliance, deviations, or abnormal system behavior Recommend corrective actions, mitigation measures, and re-testing Prepare technical observations, compliance summaries, and reports Assess system performance related to:Voltage and frequency Active and reactive power Perform parameter verification and mapping between plant equipment and simulation models Conduct audits on inverter and Power Plant Controller (PPC) control parameters Maintain audit-ready documentation of tests, approvals, and results
Testing Scope Includes (but not limited to):Reactive Power Capability Test Droop Control Test AVR Test Minimum Load Test Ramp Rate Test Control Mode Verification:Power Factor Control Reactive Power (Q) Control Voltage Control Grid disturbance and dynamic response tests
Technical Competencies Strong understanding of Grid Code compliance requirements Hands-on experience with grid compliance field testing Proficiency in PSS®E and PSCAD for dynamic system analysis Strong skills in post-processing and interpretation of test results Experience with Power Plant Controllers (PPCs) for IBRsAbility to independently assess and validate field and dynamic test data Familiarity with protection systems, fault events, and disturbance analysis
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Experience with renewable energy plants, substations, or HV systems Exposure to grid operators, utilities, or EPC environments Strong documentation and reporting skills
