Driving and Vehicle Operation:

  • Safely operate heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks, trailers, dump trucks, or flatbed trucks to transport cargo.
  • Ensure the vehicle is properly loaded, balanced, and secured for safe transportation.
  • Navigate through various road conditions and environments, including urban, rural, and off-road routes.
  1. Route Planning:
  • Plan efficient delivery routes to minimize fuel costs, avoid traffic, and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Use GPS systems or map navigation tools to identify the best routes for the delivery of goods.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions to adjust routes and schedules as necessary.

Safety and Compliance:

  1. Adherence to Safety Standards:
  • Follow all road safety regulations and traffic laws, including speed limits, weight restrictions, and hazardous material regulations (if applicable).
  • Comply with company safety policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for the operation of heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety checks, ensuring that the vehicle is in proper working condition.
  1. Cargo Handling:
  • Ensure that cargo is properly loaded, unloaded, and secured, following safety protocols to prevent damage or accidents.
  • Use lifting equipment, straps, and other tools to secure items for transport.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  1. Routine Vehicle Inspections:
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for issues related to tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other safety-critical components.
  • Report any mechanical issues, breakdowns, or concerns with the vehicle to the maintenance team or supervisor for repair.
  1. Basic Maintenance:
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, maintaining tire pressure, and ensuring the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and organized, both inside and outside, to ensure safety and professional presentation.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Logbook Maintenance:
  • Maintain accurate logs of hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery records, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation for cargo delivery, including delivery receipts, delivery notes, and route reports.
  1. Incident Reporting:
  • Report any accidents, traffic violations, or safety incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Complete required paperwork for accidents or delays in deliveries, following company protocol.

Customer Interaction:

  1. Customer Service:
  • Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner when delivering goods.
  • Ensure deliveries are completed on time and communicate any delays or issues promptly.
  • Address any concerns or issues raised by customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  1. Load Verification:
  • Verify the contents of the load with the customer or receiving party to ensure accuracy.
  • Obtain customer signatures upon delivery as proof of receipt.


Skills

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or equivalent, with endorsements for heavy-duty vehicle operation (required).
  • 2+ years of experience driving heavy-duty vehicles (preferred).
  • Experience with cargo handling, load securing, and operating various types of heavy vehicles.

Skills:

  • Driving Skills: Expertise in operating large vehicles, with the ability to safely maneuver in tight spaces and diverse driving conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and accurately complete documentation.
  • Time Management: Ability to plan and execute routes efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues and manage delays.
  • HTV-Driving License
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction and addressing any delivery-related concerns.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical tasks, including loading/unloading goods and securing cargo.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance systems and basic repair knowledge.
  • Proficiency with GPS navigation tools and route-planning software.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety compliance standards for heavy-duty vehicles.
