Job Summary: As an Acoustic Engineer, you shall be responsible for ensuring that a building or infrastructure project meets all relevant noise and vibration regulations and design specifications. You will act as an expert advisor to CSC and contractors throughout the project construction lifecycle, and post-construction. A good working knowledge of acoustic materials for reverberation control and detailing of construction elements (particularly partitions, ceilings, mullions etc.) will be beneficial. This role involves ensuring all Contractor’s submittals comply with relevant international and local codes and standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate Acoustics systems requirements are met into the building’s overall design/ construction. Key Responsibilities The key duties of an Acoustics Engineer in this role are varied and combine technical expertise with practical, on-site application: Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings & technical submittals, providing expert input on materials, layouts, and construction methods to achieve optimal acoustic performance. Conduct environmental and occupational noise surveys using specialized equipment to measure baseline sound and vibration levels in and around the construction site. Undertake noise & vibration impact assessments to make sure they meet building regulations and relevant local and international codes. Measure vibrations from sources like traffic, machinery, or footsteps, and design solutions to mitigate their effects on the structure and occupants. Use advanced computer modeling software (e.g., Cadna A, ODEON) to predict sound propagation and simulate room acoustics, helping to design soundproofing and control reverberation. Advise on noise control for building services like HVAC systems to prevent noise from interfering with quiet spaces. Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that the acoustic design solutions are implemented correctly by contractors. Supervise the installation of acoustic materials and systems, and address any on-site issues or deviations from the design. Perform post-construction (commissioning) testing to verify that the final build meets the specified acoustic performance criteria and building regulations. Prepare/ review detailed technical reports (as required), proposals, and presentations that clearly communicate complex findings and recommendations to client, project manager, and other stakeholders, often explaining technical issues to non-experts. Liaise with clients, architects, and other disciplines to ensure an integrated design approach. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on fire safety design best practices and code compliance.
Requirements A bachelor's degree in acoustics, or a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, civil, environmental), any specialist qualification in Acoustics and noise Control shall be preferred Minimum 8+ years of experience in the relevant role / position, experience in Consultancy / CSC companies preferred Proficiency in sound measurement tools, noise modeling software, data analysis, and an understanding of relevant codes of practice and legislation. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Membership in professional bodies like the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) can enhance credibility and career prospects. Valid membership of Saudi Council of Engineers is required.
