Job Details

Review and audit contractors mechanical works for dams and associated water facilities.

Inspect mechanical installations and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.

Review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, equipment schedules, data sheets and technical submissions.

Prepare mechanical technical specifications, scopes of work, bills of quantities and improvement recommendations.

Review hydraulic calculations relating to flow, pressure, head loss, pipe sizing and equipment capacity.

Verify the selection and sizing of pumps, valves, gates, actuators, hoists, pipelines and associated equipment.

Assess the mechanical and hydraulic performance of dam outlet works, spillway gates and water-conveyance systems.

Review the design, installation, testing and maintenance of gates, valves, pumps, motors, lifting equipment and hydraulic power units.

Evaluate equipment operating conditions, reliability, availability, efficiency and maintainability.

Review material selections, pressure ratings, corrosion protection and equipment protection requirements.

Verify compliance with project specifications, the Saudi Building Code and applicable international engineering standards.

Review preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance programs for mechanical assets.

Analyze equipment failures, recurring defects, abnormal vibration, leakage, overheating and performance deterioration.

Conduct or support root-cause analyses and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Identify critical mechanical assets and recommend repair, rehabilitation, upgrade or replacement priorities.

Review contractors maintenance plans, inspection procedures, method statements and lifting plans.

Monitor fabrication, installation, alignment, testing, commissioning and handover activities.

Witness functional, performance, pressure, leakage and operational tests where required.

Verify that equipment is safely isolated, tested and returned to service in accordance with approved procedures.

Review test certificates, inspection records, as-built drawings, spare-parts schedules and O&M manuals.

Monitor contractor performance and follow up defects, non-conformances and outstanding corrective actions.

Support emergency response to equipment breakdowns, gate failures, pump failures, leakage and other abnormal conditions.

Provide technical input to maintenance planning, asset management, project scheduling and risk assessments.

Coordinate mechanical activities with civil, hydraulic, electrical, instrumentation, control, safety and operations teams.

Prepare technical reports and review hydraulic studies for dams and associated water facilities.

Prepare clear daily, weekly, monthly, annual and technical reports as required by the assignment.

Present mechanical performance issues, risks and recommended solutions to senior stakeholders.

Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Attend meetings, inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required.

Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, Client procedures, quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience with mechanical works, hydraulic systems and pumping installations.
  • Prior experience working on dams or associated water facilities is required.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, gates, valves, actuators, hoists, pipelines and hydraulic power units.
  • Experience reviewing hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing and mechanical-system designs.
  • Sound understanding of preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance practices.
  • Experience reviewing contractors technical submissions, installations, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Knowledge of the Saudi Building Code, applicable mechanical requirements and recognized international standards.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, schematics, equipment data sheets and O&M manuals.
  • Strong technical-reporting, analytical, coordination and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.
