Job Overview:

The Head of Groundsmen is responsible for leading and overseeing all grounds-keeping and pitch maintenance activities at Al-Qadsiah Club to ensure that playing surfaces, training pitches, and outdoor areas meet professional football standards. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this

role ensures pitch quality, safety, and readiness for training sessions, match-days, and events, while maintaining compliance with SPL, Ministry of Sport, and applicable football regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pitch & Playing Surface Management

• Plan, supervise, and execute maintenance programs for all playing and training pitches.

• Ensure pitch surfaces meet professional standards for performance, safety, and appearance.

• Monitor turf health, drainage, leveling, and surface conditions.

2. Match-day & Training Readiness

• Ensure pitches and surrounding areas are fully prepared for training sessions, matches, and

official events.

• Coordinate pitch readiness schedules in line with team training and match calendars.

• Support inspections and approvals by leagues and governing bodies.

3. Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping

• Oversee maintenance of all outdoor grounds, landscaped areas, and pathways.

• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic quality of external areas.

4. Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Lead, supervise, and develop grounds-keeping staff and contractors.

• Assign duties, manage schedules, and monitor performance.

• Ensure staff are trained in safe working practices and equipment usage.

5. Equipment, Irrigation & Sustainability

• Oversee maintenance and safe operation of grounds-keeping equipment and machinery.

• Manage irrigation systems, water usage, fertilization, and turf treatments

• Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible grounds-keeping practices.

6. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, football regulations, and Ministry of Sport

requirements.

• Identify and mitigate risks related to pitch conditions and grounds operations.

• Coordinate with Safety and Maintenance teams to address hazards.

7. Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare maintenance plans, schedules, and reports on pitch conditions and readiness.

• Monitor performance and recommend improvements to grounds maintenance practices.

• Support budgeting and cost control for grounds-keeping activities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in grounds-keeping or pitch maintenance, preferably

within professional football or sports facilities.

• Strong knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and pitch maintenance techniques.

• Experience managing teams, contractors, and equipment.

• Familiarity with SPL and international football pitch standards is an advantage.
