Position Summary

The Polisher is responsible for delivering high-quality cosmetic finishing on new, used, and repaired vehicles, ensuring every unit leaves the dealership in showroom condition.

The role plays a direct part in shaping customer perception at vehicle handover by maintaining flawless paint finish, surface quality, and overall vehicle presentation. Through precise paint correction, polishing, and detailing work, the Polisher supports body shop output, PDI readiness, and sales presentation standards.

A strong eye for detail, consistency in finishing, and adherence to OEM standards are critical to maintaining dealership quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Polishing & Paint Correction

• Perform machine polishing, compounding, and multi-stage paint correction on new, used, and repaired vehicles

• Remove scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, sanding marks, and minor paint defects in line with OEM-approved finishing standards

• Apply paint protection products including sealants, waxes, ceramic coatings, and protective treatments as required

• Select appropriate polishing compounds, pads, and techniques based on paint condition and finish type

Detailing & Vehicle Preparation

• Carry out full interior and exterior detailing including upholstery cleaning, dashboard treatment, plastic restoration, and trim finishing

• Prepare vehicles for Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), customer handover, showroom display, and special events

• Ensure vehicles meet dealership presentation standards for cleanliness, finish quality, and visual appeal

• Use detailing chemicals, tools, and equipment correctly to achieve consistent results without damaging vehicle surfaces

Quality Control & Coordination

• Coordinate with Body Shop, PDI, and Sales teams to prioritize vehicle preparation based on delivery schedules and operational needs

• Inspect vehicle surfaces post-polishing to ensure defect-free finish before release

• Identify additional cosmetic issues during preparation and report them to the supervisor for further rectification

• Maintain consistent finishing standards across different vehicle models, paint types, and color variations

Safety, Equipment & Housekeeping

• Operate polishing machines, buffers, steamers, and detailing tools safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines

• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals, dust, and polishing equipment

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area aligned with 5S and dealership standards

• Dispose of used materials, chemicals, and consumables in line with environmental and HSE regulations

Skills

Educational Requirements

• High School Certificate or Vocational Training in Vehicle Detailing, Body Repair, or Automotive Paint

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in vehicle polishing and detailing within a franchised dealership, body shop, or professional detailing studio

• Proven experience in delivering high-quality paint correction and showroom-level finishing

• Experience working with premium or high-volume automotive brands is considered an advantage

Technical Skills

• Skilled in machine polishing techniques including rotary and dual-action polishing systems

• Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, clear coats, and finishing processes

• Ability to select correct compounds, pads, and polishing methods based on paint condition

• Familiarity with ceramic coatings, paint protection film (PPF) finishing, and advanced detailing products

• Basic understanding of paint defect identification and OEM finish standards

• Awareness of HSE standards and safe chemical handling practices
