The project:


This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment and arts along with all associated infrastructure.


Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high-calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.


The role:


Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager – Structures to support a major programme currently in the construction phase, acting in the capacity of the Engineer.


In this role, you will provide independent structural design assurance and engineering oversight, ensuring that all structural works are delivered in full compliance with the approved design, Employer’s Requirements and applicable codes. You will play a key role in reviewing, certifying and safeguarding structural integrity throughout construction, while managing technical risk and resolving design-to-construction challenges on complex structures.


You’ll be responsible for:


  • Act as part of the Engineer’s team, providing independent review, verification and approval of structural design and construction deliverables.
  • Lead structural design compliance during construction, ensuring works align with approved IFC drawings, specifications and Employer’s Requirements.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, calculations, method statements, RFIs and temporary works designs.
  • Provide technical oversight of structural works on site, including concrete, steel, composite and specialist structural systems.
  • Verify construction methodologies and sequencing, ensuring structural safety, buildability and compliance with design intent.
  • Identify and manage design deviations, non-compliance and technical risks, issuing guidance and driving resolution with contractors and consultants.
  • Oversee coordination between structural, architectural and MEP disciplines, ensuring effective integration across complex interfaces.
  • Review and approve temporary works and construction engineering solutions, ensuring they meet design and safety requirements.
  • Support the issuance of Engineer’s Instructions, approvals and certifications, in line with contractual obligations.
  • Interface with contractors, supervision teams and consultants to ensure clear interpretation and implementation of structural design intent.
  • Support authority inspections, approvals and statutory compliance processes.
  • Participate in structural inspections, testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance and performance standards are met.
  • Provide reporting on design compliance, structural risks and construction progress to senior stakeholders.

You’ll need to have:


  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Proven experience in structural design management, design compliance or engineering assurance during construction.
  • Strong experience acting for or alongside the Engineer on major projects under FIDIC or similar contracts.
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing and approving shop drawings, calculations and structural installations
  • Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or complex developments.
  • Strong understanding of structural systems, construction methodologies and temporary works design.
  • Experience within the Middle East, with knowledge of regional authority requirements (KSA preferred).
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills
  • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have relevant work experience working on high-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
