Job description

The Senior Special Airport Systems (SAS) Engineer will lead the engineering and design review of specialized airport systems under the Project Management Consultant (PMC). The role ensures that all airport systems are designed, integrated, and delivered in accordance with international standards, operational requirements, and stakeholder expectations, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and future scalability.

Key responsibilities:
Lead the design review and coordination of Special Airport Systems including Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), Public Address (PA), CCTV, Access Control, and Airport Operational Database (AODB).
Ensure all system designs comply with project specifications, aviation authority regulations, and international standards.
Coordinate with architects, structural, MEP, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of airport systems.
Review and approve design submissions, shop drawings, technical specifications, and interface documents.
Provide technical expertise in system architecture, integration, and interface management across multiple airport systems.
Identify design risks, system conflicts, and operational challenges, and propose effective mitigation solutions.
Support value engineering initiatives to optimize system performance, cost, and maintainability.
Participate in stakeholder meetings, including coordination with airport operators, airlines, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure designs meet operational efficiency, passenger experience, and safety requirements.
Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and ensure timely approvals.
Ensure adherence to quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director or line manager.

Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering and design of airport systems, preferably on large international airport projects.
Strong knowledge of Special Airport Systems such as BHS, PBB, FIDS, AODB, security systems, and communication networks.
Familiarity with international aviation standards and guidelines (e.g., ICAO, IATA).
Proven experience in multidisciplinary design coordination and system integration.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interface management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in complex project environments.
Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
