Design Manager – Hospitality Projects

Leading design delivery for hospitality (hotels, stadiums, museums, hospitals) projects across the Middle East, ensuring alignment with client vision, technical standards, and project requirements. Manages multidisciplinary design teams, coordinates design development, and oversees design reviews, approvals, and integration with construction and procurement processes. Drives design quality, resolves technical challenges, and ensures timely delivery of coordinated, compliant, and buildable design solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review architectural drawings, reports, and specifications submitted by the design consultants at each stage to ensure completeness, correctness, and compliance with the scope of work and agreement requirements.
  • Carry out constructability reviews during the design and modification stages.
  • Review design consultant submittals in a timely manner and forward comments to the construction manager.
  • Ensure design consultants incorporate comments raised from previous stages.
  • Attend technical meetings with design consultants, sub-consultants, contractors, and client teams.
  • Review proposed design organizations and related CVs and report findings to the construction manager.
  • Coordinate with project managers, document controllers, and QA/QC managers to ensure proper control of all discipline-related documents.
  • Review alternatives to the design concept submitted by design consultants and prepare reports including recommendations highlighting advantages and disadvantages.
  • Review materials proposed by design consultants and suggest alternatives to improve quality, future maintenance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review change requests and variations submitted by design consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, manuals, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience with architectural design, production techniques, codes, standards, building materials, and construction methods.
  • Previous experience in the field of specialization and knowledge of relevant engineering design principles, practices, methods, and systems.
  • Knowledge of the construction field, regulatory standards, and design standards relevant to architectural work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures, design guidelines, business automation applications, and administrative aspects.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software for two- and three-dimensional technology.
  • Experience working internationally, with preference given to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) experience.
