Job description
An airport project manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of airport infrastructure and expansion projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
They coordinate with stakeholders, including aviation authorities, contractors, and consultants, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The role focuses on risk management, operational continuity, and delivering efficient, high-quality airport facilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the management of the design work and construction activities during and complete the project.
- Develop the project responsibility matrix (PRM).
- Prepare a special report to client management to investigate any problem related to the scope of services and recommend solutions.
- Identify priorities and tasks and develop the organizational structure to assure execution of tasks by providing clear direction on methods, time frame, and schedule to achieve the stated goals.
- Attend coordination meetings, progress meetings, and executive meetings.
- Monitor performance to assure successful delivery of the key performance indicators and client contractual requirements.
- Advise the director on any potential variation to the design/supervision consultant and contractor's scope of work that may generate cost or time impact, and present the project management's assessment.
- Review weekly and monthly reports as presented by design/supervision consultant(s) and contractor and present to the client comments of non-compliance, areas of concern, and corrective actions.
- Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day management of the construction project; monitor and coordinate work performed by architectural, engineering, and construction departments.
- Inform themselves of the relevant quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, manuals, and procedures in place, and ensure continued compliance with these requirements while employed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 15 or more years of experience working on complex projects end-to-end within the construction field.
- Experience in report writing.
- Experience in contractual administration.
- Must have on-site project experience from initial design through to handover and completion.
- Ability to think ahead, identify new opportunities, and create new and innovative approaches to work-related issues.
- Familiar with design (space and functional analysis, operators/client liaison, cross-disciplinary issues/coordination, construction interfaces, programming, cost, etc.).
- Strong management of large teams and communication skills.
- Demonstrates determination, desire to succeed, and a wish to progress and develop within a commercial role.
- Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, and strong user skill level within MS Office or Primavera.
- Excellent numerical and communication skills.
- Experience of working internationally (preference for GCC experience).
