Roles & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities (shall include but not be limited to):

  • Perform emergency duties as per Station Bill and Emergency Procedures manual.

  • Effectively participate in the Stop Observe Act Report (SOAR) program and encourage active participation.

  • Comply with and effectively contribute to the continuous improvement of RMS, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) related policies and procedures, and relevant authority regulatory requirements.

  • Assist or direct the review and/or approval of any HSE related or other relevant documentation impacting their area of responsibility.

  • Responsible and accountable for HSE compliance within their area of responsibility, including communication and implementation of such policies and procedures; demonstrate management s commitment to health, safety and environmental protection.

  • Control all drilling operations and other interrelated activities being performed during his/her shift in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Ensure the drilling operations are carried out as defined in the approved operator s instructions and drilling program, and that the operation is executed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

  • Directly report any deviations from approved operator s instructions or drilling program.

  • Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time, every time.

  • Comply with company s Code of Conduct.

  • Ensure planned maintenance on drilling equipment is performed by the drilling crew and is recorded.

  • Responsible for all lifting activities on his/her assigned well center or area.

  • Ensure daily checks are carried out on drilling equipment.

  • Ensure that thorough and timely derrick inspections and Dropped Object Checks are carried out by the drilling crew, results are documented and anomalies reported and rectified.

  • Check the accuracy of drilling line ton mile record.

  • Maintain an accurate pipe tally.

  • Maintain an accurate and complete record of all equipment which enters the well.

  • Monitor the well at all times and record volumes when tripping.

  • Maintain sole responsibility for shutting the well in when circumstances dictate.

  • Maintain a current kick sheet and update Slow Circulating Rate (SCR) record at least once each shift in line with Company Well Control Procedures.

  • Direct Well Control drills.

  • Plan work for drill crew members before work commences, and include relevant personnel in the planning process.

  • Direct all necessary tasks prior to and during drilling, tripping, casing operations, cementing and fishing operations according to agreed plans and procedures.

  • Operate drilling equipment and associated systems in accordance with Company procedures and manufacturers recommendations.

  • Show active participation in Hazard Management and Stop Work activities.

  • Effectively contribute to Management of Change and Non-Conformance Management through compliance with Change and Non-Conformance Procedures.

  • Contribute to the effective execution of mechanical lifting operations.

  • Provide and maintain well control.

  • Ensure inspections and preventive maintenance schedules for drilling equipment and associatedsystems are applied in conjunction with the maintenance department (as applicable).

  • Lead and actively participate in all safety meetings and contribute with relevant points.

  • Complete and submit reports, logs, records and notes in accordance with procedures and instructions.

  • Assist with audits and follow up on outstanding audit points to bring them to completion.

  • Coordinate work and human resources deployment with other departments during non-drilling operations.

  • Review Company documentation with crew members as required.

  • Participate in document revisions as required.

  • Assist in the management of the mentoring process in accordance with the Mentoring Program.

  • Demonstrate leadership through personal responsibility and accountability.

  • Participate in Competence Program.

  • Supervise and manage in accordance with supervisory roles and responsibilities.

  • Implement frontline discipline in consultation with next level supervisor.

  • Participate in a leading role in relevant incident investigations.

  • Conduct formal and informal performance appraisals, which include measuring performance.

  • Ensure direct reports roles and responsibilities are clearly discussed.

  • Liaise with service personnel onboard installation as necessary and ensure they perform operations safely and according to procedures.

  • Liaise with customer representative as necessary.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • High school or technical degree in drilling, mechanical or petroleum engineering.

  • Previous experience on offshore environment and jack up rigs with minimum 4 years of experience in gas and oil rigs as Derrickman, Assistant Driller or stand alone driller.

  • Candidate should be certified in Well-control level 3 training.

  • Complete the mandatory training upon joining the company such as : ARO Rig induction, SA-HUET, H2S, OGUK medical Personnel Hoist Operator Safety Awareness, Spill Prevention, CPR.
