The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day technical supervision of the Service Engineering team that performs mechanical and electrical repair, maintenance, and major overhaul duties on a fleet of powered access equipment. Reporting into the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will support with daily workshop operations by providing scheduled work assignments and setting priorities to assigned Service Engineers, training and coaching employees to improve performance, conducting performance evaluations, and administering corrective action if needed. The Workshop Supervisor will also personally carry out more complex repair and maintenance tasks, as well as support the Branch Manager in identifying and implementing best practice preventive and predictive maintenance measures. The role holder will be an individual who can assume a leadership position in a fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role that requires work on the workshop floor and on customer sites, performing all necessary maintenance and repair duties. It may also require overtime work to get the task done. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manage the operational technical service functions across the assigned geographical region. Work effectively with the Service Manager and the Foremen to ensure that all maintenance and repair activities are carried out in the most effective, efficient, and timely manner. • Maintain fleet performance and appearance by implementing the company Preventive Maintenance Program. Report and make recommendations on any serious defects or unsafe equipment. • Ensure pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of each machine are carried out at the depot or on site as required and are in conformance with the manufacturer's specification and company policy. • Receive the monthly repair and maintenance service schedule and organise the workload of the Service Engineers to ensure all work is completed in accordance with agreed timescales. Review completed work orders and adjust as appropriate. • Supervise, oversee, and assist in the troubleshooting, service, and repair diagnostics of equipment whenever they encounter problems. Personally carry out more specialised or complex maintenance, repairs, and overhauls. • Use hand-held and mobile technology in the evaluation and performance of the day-to-day duties. Highlight issues and make recommendations for improvement where necessary. • Implement the required activity for customer breakdowns to ensure prompt and considered response to the dispatch of mobile service engineers. • Assist in producing month-end reports and analysis, such as equipment reliability, breakdown, performance, and inspection (pre-delivery and post-hire) for senior management review. Provide recommendations for improvements where necessary. • Assist in spare parts inventory control and recommend purchasing action for spare parts that fall below the established minimum level. • Ensure health and safety and security procedures and legislation is adhered to. Explain the work to be done to the employees and help them plan for safe work and increase awareness of hazards. • Day-to-day technical supervision of the Service Engineering team. Conducts daily debrief meetings and provides technical guidance. • Ensure the performance of all staff achieves agreed objectives and assist in their performance appraisal process. • Assist in identifying the training and development needs of the Service Engineering team. Provide on-the-job training and development in line with the achievement of individual, depot, and corporate objectives.

• Tertiary level educational qualification (or above) in mechanics, electronics, or related subject area. • Extensive technical knowledge within the powered access, heavy plant, construction, or engineering industry sector as a Senior Service Engineer or Foreman. • Successful hands-on track record in repair and maintenance with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engines. • Ability to read, interpret, and apply written instructions for the repair and maintenance of equipment. • Ability to diagnose root cause engineering issues and take action to deliver sustained improvement. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, such as Word and Excel. ? Good knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. • Experience in supervising and motivating, with the ability to schedule and prioritise the work of others to meet deadlines. • Driving licence.
