Job DescriptionOverview

The Road Site Engineer supervises and coordinates day‑to‑day construction activities for road and highway works. The role ensures correct interpretation of drawings, adherence to specifications, delivery to schedule, and compliance with quality and HSE requirements across earthworks, pavement layers, drainage, utilities, and traffic management.


Your role
  • Plan and supervise daily site activities for excavation, embankment, grading, subgrade, GSB, sub‑base, base course, and asphalt works.
  • Interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, and method statements; brief crews and subcontractors accordingly.
  • Coordinate with survey team for setting‑out, alignments, levels, and check points; verify as‑built data.
  • Interface with utilities and drainage teams for ducts, culverts, manholes, catch basins, pipe laying, and inspections.
  • Monitor materials (aggregates, binders, geotextiles, asphalt) and equipment utilization; raise material requests in time.
  • Ensure compliance with ITPs and support QA/QC in inspections, trials, compaction tests, core samples, and laboratory testing.
  • Prepare daily progress reports, resource logs, and look‑ahead plans; flag constraints and propose recovery actions.
  • Coordinate with HSE to implement safe systems of work, traffic management plans, and permit‑to‑work controls.
  • Participate in progress meetings; track punch lists, NCR closures, and site instructions.
  • Support commissioning/hand‑over: as‑builts, O&M inputs, snag/De‑snag activities, and final documentation.
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 5–10 years in road/highway construction with hands‑on supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, pavement construction, drainage/utilities, and traffic control at work zones.
  • Familiar with standards such as AASHTO/ASTM/BS (for compaction, asphalt, materials) and local authority specs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D (reading), MS Office; exposure to Primavera/MS Project coordination preferred.
  • Competencies: site coordination, problem solving, communication, and contractor/subcontractor management.
