Supporting students and families in grades 9 through 12 as they navigate the transition to higher education, both locally and internationally. The counselor must possess expertise in global university systems, particularly those in Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Europe, and align all guidance efforts with School’s mission of fostering character, purpose, and leadership in every student. The role involves strategic program planning, individual advising, and active engagement with parents, faculty, and university representatives.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree (master’s preferred) in Education, Counseling, or related field. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in college advising, counseling, or admissions (preferably in an international or American curriculum school). Strong knowledge of university systems in Saudi Arabia, the United States, Europe, and the IB Diploma Programme. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an asset. Competency with advising platforms (e.g., SCOIR, Naviance) and general educational technologies. A growth mindset, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for helping students achieve their goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and implement a multi-year college and career advising program for students in Grades 9–12, integrating academic planning, career exploration, and application preparation. Provide individualized college counseling to students and families, including goal-setting, application guidance, essay review, financial aid navigation, and decision-making support. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions, advising notes, and application progress. Develop and maintain strong relationships with university admissions representatives in the U. S., Europe, and the Middle East. Host and coordinate university visits, virtual fairs, and information sessions on campus. Represent School at regional and international college counselor conferences and fairs. Manage and support the submission of college applications, recommendations, transcripts, and school profiles. Write compelling and personalized counselor recommendation letters for students. Coordinate with the Testing Coordinator on logistics and student preparation for standardized exams (PSAT, GAT, SAT, IB, etc.). Annually update and distribute the School Profile to colleges and universities. Conduct regular workshops and sessions for parents on the college admissions landscape, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. Collaborate with teachers, advisors, and academic leaders to align academic choices with student goals. Provide professional development for faculty on their roles in supporting students through the college process. Maintain and leverage the college advising platform (e.g., SCOIR or equivalent) to track student progress and inform advising. Collect and report data on student admissions outcomes, scholarships, and alumni placement. Stay current on global admissions trends and update school leadership and marketing teams with annual results and changes. Aligned with School Guiding Statements. Guides students in becoming principled and purposeful learners ready for a global future. Supports diverse post-secondary pathways and nurtures intercultural competencies. Builds bridges between students, families, universities, and the broader community. Support whole-school initiatives and participate in school events. Maintain professional memberships in college counseling associations (e.g., IACAC, CIS, NACAC). Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
