To plan and implement routine maintenance activities for KJO’s LAN / WAN network and carry out timely resolution of any network problems or requirements in order to ensure trouble-free, secure and consistent operation of the company’s network environment.

Skills

Policies, Processes and Procedures

-              Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.

Day- to-day operations

-              Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Network Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.

Project Management

-              Organises and supervises the activities and work of the contractors to ensure that all work agreed upon is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with the organisation requirements and is in line with operating procedures and policy.

Technical Support

-              Provides technical support under the direction of the Section Supervisor in designing and execution of projects and activities related to network engineering.

Network Design & Configuration

-              Participates in the system design of proposed network plan to ensure that all technical requirements and data are available and considered during project planning

-              Plans and reviews network configuration to ensure the highest availability of services particularly in case of catastrophic failure and to minimize the impact of such failure on the operations.

LAN / WAN Equipment Maintenance

-              Configures, tests and maintains LAN / WAN equipment and related services on a regular basis as per plan to ensure smooth operation of the system and supports KJO’s LAN / WAN environment to meet user requirements and ensure security aspects of the network are duly maintained with no unauthorised access or incidents to avoid security breaches.

Network Security

-              Designs, installs and maintains network security infrastructure to ensure that all corporate data is properly secured while providing primary support and maintenance for all network security equipment across the network.

-              Reviews security logs from firewalls, switches, routers, etc. to determine cause of security related events or identify potential threats and troubleshoots security problems/failures while reporting suspected network misuse, unresolved network security exposures or noncompliance to the Supervisor.

Troubleshooting

-              Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network problems and ensures the relevant technical documentation is maintained to facilitate future maintenance.

-              Assists in defining and solving complex problems across the various location networks and monitors network performance.

Documentation and Proposals

-              Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks and ensure this is updated at all times for ready reference.

-              Assists the Supervisor in preparing proposals for network requirements and presenting solutions for the same to meet user expectations.

Project Scope

-              Reviews and prepares scope of work for major networking jobs for presenting to the Superintendent and Supervisor for review and approval.

System Acceptance Tests

-              Witnesses and attends system acceptance tests of completed projects to verify that the network systems work in order to make the necessary closures and recommendations to the project.

Reporting

-              Prepares section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards

Safety, Health & Environment

-              Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
