Job Purpose Coordinate and execute the sourcing and procurement of metal feedstock and scrap materials (specifically Aluminium, UBC, and classified scrap) for the Ras Al Khair (RAK) complex. Support the Aluminium Business Unit’s cost and sustainability targets by maintaining security of supply, optimizing scrap utilization, and effectively managing supplier contracts against LME benchmarks."
Key Accountabilities Sourcing Strategy & Planning:Assist in developing and implementing sourcing plans for metal procurement to ensure continuous supply for RAK Aluminium operations. Support strategic initiatives to increase Used Beverage Cans (UBC) and scrap recycling rates, directly contributing to the Aluminium SBU’s sustainability and local content targets. Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost reduction through effective scrap mixing strategies and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis. Procurement Operations:Execute day-to-day procurement activities for aluminium products and scrap, ensuring timely delivery to meet RAK production schedules. Prepare, process, and administer purchase orders (POs), contracts, and pricing agreements in strict compliance with Ma’aden’s ERP system and Authority Matrix. Coordinate logistics and delivery schedules with the RAK material handling team to ensure seamless scrap intake and inventory management. Market Intelligence & Pricing:Monitor global and local Aluminium scrap market trends and LME (London Metal Exchange) fluctuations to support competitive sourcing decisions. Track market dynamics, including supply-demand balances and regional recycling flows, and report pricing trends to management for informed decision-making. Apply cost analysis tools to validate supplier pricing against LME benchmarks and agreed premiums/discounts. Supplier Management:Identify, qualify, and onboard approved scrap suppliers, ensuring compliance with Ma’aden’s quality standards and ERP registration requirements. Monitor supplier performance regarding scrap quality (contamination levels), delivery timeliness, and contractual adherence; initiate corrective actions when necessary. Risk & Compliance:Assist in risk assessments related to scrap quality/grading, material availability, and transportation logistics in the RAK industrial city. Ensure all procurement activities adhere to Ma’aden’s procurement policies, safety standards, and ethical conduct guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) is preferred.
Minimum Experience:5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, with a mandatory focus on Metal or Scrap Procurement (specifically Aluminium/UBC). Proven experience working with LME pricing mechanisms and managing commodity contracts. Experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment (preferably Aluminium Smelting or Rolling).
Skills:Technical: In-depth knowledge of Aluminium scrap grades (Taint Tabor, UBC, Extrusion scrap, etc.) and recycling specifications. Systems: Proficiency in SAP (MM module) and MS Office (Excel for cost modeling). Analytical: Ability to interpret commodity market data and perform cost-benefit analysis. Communication: Strong negotiation skills and ability to coordinate with RAK operational teams; fluency in English (Arabic is a significant advantage).
