Seeking a skilled HSE Engineer for a 12-month contract to develop comprehensive HSE processes and guidelines for utility-scale solar projects. You will leverage your proven experience in creating HSE programs to ensure safety and compliance across construction and operations phases.
Key Responsibilities Author, review, and issue end-to-end HSE standard procedures and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering risk assessment, PTW, LOTO, confined space, hot works, working at height, lifting operations, machine guarding, chemical management, waste management, energy isolation, emergency response, incident reporting, and contractor HSE. Standardize job safety analyses (JSA), method statements (MS), and safe work instructions (SWI) across operations tailored to grid-scale solar PV plants (e.g., addressing electrical hazards, working at heights, and heavy equipment risks). Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments (HAZID/HAZOP), incident investigations, and root cause analysis for solar farm environments. Design, implement, and maintain an integrated HSE aligned programs, emergency response drills, audits, and contractor management to align with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and local regulations. Monitor environmental compliance (e.g., waste from PV panels, soil erosion) and report on HSE performance metrics. Collaborate with project teams to integrate HSE into project lifecycle from permitting to commissioning.
Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; NEBOSH/IOSH certification required. Minimum 5 years HSE experience in grid-scale solar projects (250MW+), with hands-on background in writing/developing HSE guidelines, programs, and systems. Proven track record delivering HSE documentation for solar sites, including electrical safety and high-risk operations.
