CNC Turning Machine operator

We are seeking a skilled CNC Turning Machine Operator to join our dynamic team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating CNC turning machines, ensuring precision and quality in the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for setting up and operating various CNC lathes, interpreting technical drawings, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality control. Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to determine machining strategy, datums, and tolerances.
  • Set up CNC turning centers (chucks/collets/soft jaws), load tools, set work/tool offsets, and prove out programs.
  • Perform precision turning operations (OD/ID turning, facing, threading, grooving, boring, taper/spherical features, parting) on ferrous & non-ferrous alloys.
  • Optimize cutting parameters (speed, feed, DOC) and troubleshoot chatter, tool wear, surface finish, and tolerance issues.
  • Conduct first-article inspection and in-process checks using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread gauges, and CMM reports where applicable.
  • Complete production logs, maintain 5S at the machine, and follow HSE and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, coolant checks, chip management).
  • Collaborate with Programming/QA on DNC uploads, program edits (G/M codes), NCR containment, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure on-time delivery and yield against daily production plans and OEE targets.

Preferred Candidate:

  • 3+ years recent experience as a CNC turning operator in a precision machining environment.
  • Proficiency with at least one common control: FANUC (ability to load, call, and adjust programs & offsets).
  • Strong ability to read technical drawings and apply GD&T (position, runout, cylindricity, concentricity).
  • Basic on-machine program editing (G/M code tweaks, canned cycles: G71/G72/G76, etc.).
  • Solid measurement skills using handheld gauges and recording results on inspection sheets.
  • Experience with tool presetting, insert selection/grades, and wear compensation.
  • Working knowledge of coolants, chip control, and safe handling of long/ stringy materials.
  • Basic troubleshooting of alarms, tool breakage, and surface finish issues.
  • Ability to lift and handle workpieces safely; good housekeeping and 5S discipline.
  • High school / ITI / Diploma in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • English literacy for work instructions and reporting; basic computer skills (ERP/Excel) are a plus.


Skills

Preferable Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with API/ASME critical tolerances and oil & gas components (e.g., threads, ring grooves, valve parts).
  • Familiarity with API 6A Produces 
  • Exposure to SPC, CP/CPK, and root cause analysis tools (5-Why, Ishikawa).
  • Knowledge of jig/fixture/soft-jaw design and quick-change setups to reduce cycle time.
  • Experience with CMM or advanced gauging; understanding of MRB/NCR flows.
  • Forklift/overhead crane operation certification.
  • First aid / HSE certifications; strong safety culture mindset.
  • Arabic/Hindi/Urdu language skills (multi-lingual shopfloor communication) [adjust as relevant].
