Control Centre Operator

The Control Centre Operator is responsible for overseeing the operation and management of water assets and telemetry devices through the Intelligent Water Management System (IWMS). This role requires a proactive approach to monitor, respond, and ensure the reliability of water services while adhering to established KPIs and service delivery targets. The operator will also coordinate with various sectors and external contractors to maintain operational efficiency and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the monitoring and operation of water assets, responding promptly to alarms and anomalies detected by telemetry devices via the IWMS.
  2. Identify and address unauthorized access to water assets through access control and CCTV systems.
  3. Ensure the water infrastructure operates optimally, meeting established KPIs and service delivery targets for reliable and efficient water services.
  4. Coordinate planned works and manage access permits in line with approved operational procedures.
  5. Timely assess and respond to unplanned events and faults that may impact the reliability of water infrastructure.
  6. Collaborate with other sectors, external companies, and contractors to ensure seamless operational activities, including desalination plants and regulatory bodies.
  7. Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations across all activities managed by the control center.
  8. Validate compliance of issued work permits and authority to work with current qualifications and training records.
  9. Respond to safety incidents by implementing response plans to mitigate impacts on the public and water infrastructure.
  10. Generate and review performance reports and dashboards to measure operational efficiency against established KPIs.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. A minimum of 7 years of experience in an operational environment, such as a Control Room Operator or Analyst in a water utility.
  2. Proven ability to interact effectively with third-party operations and maintenance contractors.
  3. Strong knowledge of operations planning, scheduling, and dispatch processes.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of incident and emergency management principles and their practical application.
  5. Advanced user experience with real-time systems such as SCADA and telemetry devices, including IoT technologies.
  6. Ability to adapt and deliver in a fast-paced operational environment while ensuring compliance with KPIs.
  7. Excellent communication skills to engage with technical teams, engineering specialists, and corporate areas.
  8. Familiarity with IT/OT operations and service management, with a willingness to embrace new technology solutions.
  9. Competency in data analysis and a strong interest in continuous process improvement.
  10. A customer-centric approach to delivering reliable water services.
