- Develop detailed cost estimates and budgets for marine construction projects
- Monitor project expenditures and proactively identify opportunities for cost savings
- Prepare and analyze cost reports, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions
- Assist in the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors
- Manage the administration of contracts, including change orders and claims
- Implement effective project control systems to track progress, performance, and compliance
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including bills of quantities and cost records
- Provide regular updates to project managers and clients on financial performance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert advice and guidance on cost-related matters
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cost-effective project delivery
- Participate in the preparation of proposals and presentations for new business opportunities technical and non-technical staff as necessary.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marine engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with a strong focus on marine infrastructure projects
- Thorough understanding of marine construction methods, materials, and cost estimating techniques
- Proficiency in the use of industry-standard quantity surveying software and tools
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams
- Sound knowledge of contract administration and dispute resolution processes
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
