The HSE Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of employees and the environment in the construction and project planning industry. This position involves the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HSE management, along with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and audits. Additionally, experience in water treatment plants is highly valued for this role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations and industry standards.
  2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
  3. Identify potential hazards and assess risks associated with construction activities.
  4. Provide training and guidance to employees on HSE practices and emergency response procedures.
  5. Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, including reports, incident investigations, and safety data sheets.
  6. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  7. Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  8. Participate in safety meetings and provide recommendations for enhancing safety protocols.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting HSE practices.
  10. Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in HSE roles within the construction industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Proficient in using HSE management software and tools.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Certifications in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are preferred.
  9. Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
