In December 2019, RI opened three Women’s Centers (WGSS) in three RI-supported health facilities: Ataq -Bakbirah women center. Consequently, in June 2021, RI commenced a protection program with a similar approach in Shabwah Governorate Ataq District. In South, RI will run and manage one women center attached to the health facility and to Reproductive health services. This position will be stationed in the South.

Position Summary

The Field Assistant (Protection) will be responsible for the set-up of one WCSS in Shabwah Governorate (Bayhan or Ataq districts) and the ongoing implementation of GBV, PSS and recreational activities in the spaces. The WCSS Officer will be a highly-mobile position, requiring daily visits to field locations. Working in close coordination with the Protection Coordinator and Protection Technical Advisor, the WCSS Officer will ensure the utmost program quality in set-up and implementation of activities within the center.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide direct case management services for an assigned number of WGSS clients on a daily basis 
  • Supervise PSS assistants and be responsible for their capacity development, recruitment and training as guided by the Protection Coordinator.
  • Oversee the implementation of group PSS sessions, providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring for the PSS workers and ensuring identification of vulnerable clients in need of additional support
  • Coordinate regularly with the WGSS’s Outreach Assistant and PSS workers to maintain an updated service mapping and promote strong referral pathways and appropriate follow-up 
  • Ensure that all case management and psychosocial support activities are implemented in line with RI’s internal policies, particularly standard operating procedures designed for the project, as well as donor and cluster regulations and international humanitarian standards
  • Support the development of information awareness sessions, PSS and recreational activities, and other opportunities for WGSS clients based on need  
  • Contribute to the development and roll-out of training materials related to case management and PSS services 
  • Support data collection in a safe and confidential manner for analysis by Protection and MEAL colleagues 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and reports in a timely manner; incorporate feedback, as requested 
  • Meet regularly with the Protection Coordinator and Protection Technical Advisor to review client needs, identify achievements and challenges, and adjust programming accordingly  
  • Support the development of key technical tools in coordination with the Protection Technical Advisor and department heads, such as MEAL, operations/procurement 
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment with clear communication channels   
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned by the Field Officer (Protection).

I.    Qualifications and Experience:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, preferably psychology or social work. 
  • At least one year of relevant experience in individual case management provision. 
  • Demonstrated capacity and experience in staff management.
  • Prior experience in women’s protection and/or social work with an NGO preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is favourable.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage staff in a high-pressured environment with long hours. 
  • Committed to the humanitarian imperative and passionate about the successful delivery of confidential, client-centered services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
