About the Process Engineer Role
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Process Engineer with extensive hands-on expertise in Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) and Sour Water Stripper (SWS) processes. This full-time position is within the Operation Engineering Solutions Department (OESD), which provides multi-disciplinary technical support to Global Manufacturing operating facilities, including refineries, NGL facilities, and petrochemical plants. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of specialized experience in SRU/SWS operations.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is to deliver in-depth process engineering and operations expertise to monitor, optimize, and improve the performance of refineries' SRU & SWS units. This includes providing remote and on-site technical advisory support, conducting benchmarking, and managing technology knowledge. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting regular performance reviews of SRU & SWS facilities, analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) for operability, profitability, reliability, and process safety.
- Developing and presenting quarterly benchmarking reports with actionable improvement recommendations.
- Providing hands-on support for implementing performance improvement initiatives and demonstrating measurable results.
- Leading benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities.
- Developing and distributing bi-monthly SRU & SWS technical best practices bulletins.
- Delivering on-demand remote and field technical advisory support, including troubleshooting, start-up/shutdown activities, capacity test runs, and technology pilot testing, providing detailed service reports.
- Collaborating with facility engineers to identify and implement cost optimization and process improvement initiatives with minimal capital investment.
- Conducting internal assessments of SRU & SWS process engineering standards and supporting their implementation.
- Participating in Business Plan development, coordinating capital investments, and supporting techno-economic evaluations for SRU & SWS units.
- Evaluating and recommending new SRU & SWS technologies and coordinating assessments and piloting.
- Actively participating in external benchmarking activities with industry bodies such as JCCP and GDA.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related specialization. An advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of total refinery or gas plants process units experience.
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in handling SRUs/TGTU/SWS plants.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize SRU & SWS operations with specific examples of performance improvements.
- In-depth knowledge of SRU/TGTU process licensor technologies.
- Proven track record of conducting technical troubleshooting, start-up, shutdown, and capacity test runs for SRU & SWS units.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools relevant to SRU & SWS performance metrics.
- Strong management and coordination skills, including experience in stakeholder management.
- Excellent computer and presentation skills.
