Senior Technician - Hub Maintenance
Job Purpose
The Senior Marine Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of marine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and outboard engines on vessels and marine equipment. The role ensures that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime regulations and company standards. The technician also provides technical leadership to junior technicians and assists in planning maintenance activities for both inboard and outboard propulsion systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on marine engines, outboard engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain and service diesel engines, outboard motors, generators, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system failures on vessels, marine equipment, and outboard propulsion units.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance according to maintenance schedules.
- Inspect marine equipment and ensure compliance with safety and maritime regulations.
- Perform installation, servicing, and overhaul of outboard engines, including fuel, ignition, and cooling systems.
- Supervise and mentor junior technicians and maintenance staff.
- Review and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with marine engineers, ship crews, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and inspection documentation.
- Assist with dry docking, vessel refits, and major repair projects.
- Ensure all work follows company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in marine maintenance, vessel repair, outboard engine servicing, or shipyard operations.
- Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, outboard motors, propulsion systems, and marine electrical systems.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, navigation equipment, and onboard machinery.
- Ability to read technical drawings and troubleshooting manuals.
- Knowledge of maritime safety standards and regulations.
- Experience servicing major outboard engine brands is an advantage.
- Valid marine technical certifications (preferred).
