Job Purpose The Open Water Instructor is a site-based role responsible for delivering high-quality scuba diving training and experiences in line with internationally recognized standards. This role ensures the safe, professional, and engaging delivery of entry-level and continuing education diving programs, while creating exceptional guest experiences within a luxury marine tourism environment. The Open Water Instructor is accountable for student safety, course delivery, and adherence to training agency standards, while also supporting daily dive center operations and promoting environmental awareness.
Key Responsibilities1. General Responsibilities Deliver scuba diving courses and programs in accordance with recognized training agency standards (e.g., PADI, SSI, or equivalent). Ensure all training sessions are conducted safely, professionally, and in line with company policies. Provide exceptional guest service, ensuring a memorable and engaging learning experience. Support the Dive Center Manager in the day-to-day operations of the dive center. Maintain a professional appearance and uphold luxury hospitality standards at all times.
2. Pre-Opening Support Assist in the setup and operational readiness of training facilities, classrooms, and confined/open water sites. Support cross-functional teams during the delivery phase to ensure all training assets, materials, and equipment are in place. Develop familiarity with dive sites, training areas, and environmental conditions within the destination.
3. Operational Responsibilities (Post-Opening) Conduct academic, confined water, and open water training sessions for entry-level and advanced courses. Deliver thorough pre-dive briefings and post-dive debriefings. Supervise and guide students during all in-water activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Assess student performance and certify participants in accordance with training agency requirements. Ensure all diving activities are conducted safely, with proper risk assessments and emergency preparedness. Support dive excursions, guiding certified divers where required. Assist with equipment preparation, fitting, and post-dive care. Maintain accurate student records, certifications, and training documentation. Promote responsible diving practices and environmental conservation awareness.
4. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Prioritize safety in all training and diving activities. Ensure compliance with all diving standards, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols. Maintain current first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen provider certifications. Promote environmental stewardship, including reef protection and marine conservation awareness.
5. Policies, Procedures & Reporting Adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and training agency standards. Maintain accurate documentation, including training records, incident reports, and certification paperwork. Report any incidents, risks, or operational concerns promptly to management.
6. Continuous Improvement Stay updated with the latest diving standards, teaching methodologies, and industry best practices. Contribute to the development of new diving programs and guest experiences. Participate in internal training and professional development initiatives.
Job Requirements Qualifications & Experience Certified Open Water Scuba Instructor from a recognized agency (e.g., PADI OWSI, SSI Instructor, or equivalent). Active teaching status with valid and up-to-date professional membership. Minimum of 2 years’ experience delivering scuba diving instruction in a commercial environment. Valid First Aid, CPR, AED, and Emergency Oxygen Provider certifications. Experience in delivering training to diverse groups and varying skill levels. Experience in luxury tourism or resort environments is an advantage.

Strong organizational and time management skills. Professional presentation aligned with luxury hospitality standards. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Desirable Skills Additional instructor-level certifications (e.g., Advanced, Rescue, Specialty Instructor ratings). Additional language proficiency (preferably Arabic). Experience in underwater photography/videography. Knowledge of marine life identification and conservation practices.
Job Context Operates within a luxury dive center and marine tourism environment. Requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons. Involves regular in-water activities and exposure to varying environmental conditions. Plays a key role in delivering safe, high-quality training and memorable guest experiences.
