The Packing Machine Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of various automated and semi-automated packaging machinery, including L-sealers, master carton sealers, and carton erectors. This role ensures that products are packaged according to strict specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and control a variety of packaging machines such as L-sealers (for shrink wrapping) and master carton sealers.
- Perform machine setup and changeovers, including loading product, film, tape, glue, or carton blanks.
- Adjust machine settings (temperature, speed, tension, glue patterns) according to product specifications.
- Conduct regular quality checks on packaged products, inspecting for proper seals, correct labeling, and package integrity.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and adjustments to resolve machine issues such as jams, misfeeds, or poor seals.
- Conduct routine cleaning of machinery and work areas to maintain hygiene standards and prevent buildup.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication and checking for worn parts.
- Report major mechanical or electrical issues to the maintenance department or supervisor promptly.
Skills
- Technical Experience: 1–3 years of experience operating packaging or production machinery, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Machine Proficiency: Specific experience with L-sealers, carton erectors, or master carton sealers is a significant plus.
- Quality Focus: Strong ability to conduct visual inspections for seal integrity, accurate labeling, and product count.
- Troubleshooting: Multi-skilled with a hands-on and practical approach to solving minor mechanical malfunctions.
- Communication: Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
- Personal Attributes: Must be hardworking, highly motivated, and possess good interpersonal skills to collaborate with production teams.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Safety & Hygiene: Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene practices within a food manufacturing environment.
