Context
We are seeking an experienced Civil/Earthworks Inspector to oversee quality, compliance, and site execution for a large-scale infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate has substantial hands-on inspection experience on major civil works, with demonstrated involvement in Aramco-standard projects. This role ensures construction activities meet approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project quality requirements, with a strong focus on earthworks, grading, subgrade/subbase, drainage, and structural foundations.
Missions/Main Duties
- Conduct daily inspections of earthworks and civil activities, including excavation, backfilling, compaction, embankments, grading, subgrade/subbase layers, drainage systems, foundations, culverts, and retaining structures.
- Verify compliance with project IFC drawings, technical specifications, method statements, ITPs, and applicable codes/standards (including Aramco standards).
- Monitor contractor execution and quality controls, including material approvals, compaction test results, geotechnical parameters, density tests, concrete works, and laboratory reports.
- Witness and document inspections and tests (e.g., field density tests, plate load tests, concrete slump/cylinders, and geotechnical sampling) per the approved ITP.
- Review and validate WIRs/MIRs, ensure timely inspections, and maintain accurate records of QC documentation, checklists, and as-built data.
- Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Coordinate with construction teams, QA/QC, engineering, and consultants to resolve site issues and technical queries (RFI/TQ).
- Ensure adherence to safety requirements, permits-to-work, and environmental controls, including dust suppression, erosion, and waste management.
- Support interface management for civil works adjacent to rail corridors, utilities, and third-party assets; verify clearances, alignments, and tolerances.
- Participate in progress reviews, prepare inspection reports with photographic evidence, and contribute to handover documentation and as-built verification.
Profile/Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in civil/earthworks inspection on large infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience on infrastructure(, drainage, embankments, structures) projects executed under Aramco standards/specifications.
- Mandatory prior work experience in Saudi Arabia, with familiarity with local codes, authority approvals, and regulatory processes.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical and earthworks QA/QC (compaction criteria, material classification, subgrade/subbase acceptance).
- Proficiency with QA/QC processes, ITPs, method statements, WIR/MIR, NCR management, and as-built documentation.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., Aramco SAES/SAMSS/SAP, ASTM/AASHTO, BS/EN, local railway authority standards).
- Working knowledge of surveying principles and tolerances; ability to verify levels, alignments, and layout with survey teams.
- Solid understanding of HSE practices for earthworks and civil construction; ability to enforce site safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills; strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
