The Senior Specialist, Procurement is responsible for procurement-related activities to ensure that materials, equipment, and services required for shipbuilding projects are processed, tracked, and delivered in alignment with project schedules. The role acts as a single coordination point between Procurement, Engineering, Planning, Production, and Vendors, ensuring smooth execution of procurement processes, timely follow-up, and accurate information flow to support uninterrupted production.
1. Procurement Coordination & Follow-up · Plan, arrange, oversee, and coordinates of procurement activities. · Develop procurement plans in compliance with projects to ensure lowest risk. · Develop and maintain Procurement & Subcontract Requirements, Plans and Schedules for all projects. · Coordinate procurement activities from PR receipt through PO issuance, delivery, and site handover. · Follow up with Buyers and Vendors to ensure timely processing and progress of procurement actions. · Track procurement status and highlight delays or issues affecting production schedules. · Monitor and control procurement costs, ensure adherence to project budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities, implement value engineering initiatives, and optimize procurement processes to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
2. Interface with Engineering, Planning & Production · Coordinate with Engineering to confirm technical clarifications, specifications, and drawing readiness. · Align procurement activities with MP, production schedules, and site requirements. · Support production and site teams by ensuring visibility of material delivery status.
3. Documentation & System Control · Maintain accurate procurement records including PRs, POs, delivery schedules, and vendor documentation. · Ensure procurement data is properly updated in ERP / procurement systems. · Support document control for vendor submittals, approvals, and delivery records.
4. Reporting & Issue Resolution · Prepare and update procurement status reports (weekly / monthly / lookahead). · Identify potential procurement risks and escalate issues to Procurement Management. · Support resolution of delivery, quantity, or documentation issues in coordination with stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in procurement, management, or related field.
Professional Qualifications: Recognized professional planning or engineering certification preferred.
Competencies: Expert knowledge of DP/MP integration with production schedules. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead cross-functional coordination and planning governance. Decision-making capability under schedule and production pressure. Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Experience: Minimum 9 - 12 years of experience in procurement coordination, supply chain, or project procurement support roles. Proven experience in shipbuilding, offshore, or heavy industrial projects. Strong hands-on experience coordinating procurement activities across Engineering, Planning, Production, and Vendors. Demonstrated ability to track and control procurement processes from PR to PO, delivery, and site handover.
