Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our award winning team in Jeddah/Makkah, KSA. The Geotechnical Engineer shall be stationed full time on site to monitor and supervise geotechnical works of external developers during construction.


The Engineer will ensure that all ground related works are executed in accordance with the approved design, specifications and SGS requirements, while providing immediate technical advice and guidance to address ground behavior, risks, and construction challenges.


  • Monitoring full time on-site of deep excavations, shoring systems, foundations, piling, and earthworks within MASAR development.
  • Verifying compliance of construction activities with approved geotechnical design assumptions, drawings, and method statements.
  • Conducting daily visits to developers’ construction sites to confirm progress and compliance with the approved shoring and foundation designs.
  • Ensuring that there are no adverse impacts on existing infrastructure, including (but not limited to) parking structures, underpasses, utilities, sidewalks, and pedestrian paths.
  • Monitoring visually, the ground movements, settlement, and groundwater conditions, including reviewing of instrumentation data where applicable.
  • Coordinating with the Developer, Contractor, and UAQ (Umm Al Qura) on all geotechnical matters.
  • Reviewing and commenting (technical information and documents) on shoring and foundations design submissions related to geotechnical works.
  • Attending site coordination meetings and providing technical input and recommendations.
  • Preparing weekly geotechnical monitoring and observation reports, including key risks, non-compliances, required actions, and progress status.
  • Providing technical guidance to UAQ and stakeholders on shoring and foundations design matters.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include at-least 15+ years experience in a consultancy environment partnered with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical focused) or related course.A Master's is preferred.


  • Strong exposure to site based supervision on major urban developments.
  • Experience in deep excavation and foundation works in Makkah or similar geological conditions is strongly preferred.
