Assists project team with employee processing, including employee turnover, recruiting, and facilitating new hire/on-boarding process (drug testing, new hire paperwork, etc.)
Assists in preparing project estimates and bids, performing site inspections, and preparing material & quantity takeoffs
Assists Project Managers, Superintendents and other project team members in tracking historical and actual Production Rates and material costs, helping to uncover any items that might negatively or positively impact the schedule or budget, such as unbudgeted job costs, change in work conditions, extra labor, unplanned equipment rentals, etc. Prepares look-ahead schedules and helps maintain overall project schedules.
Assists Foreman/Superintendent and PM in mark up and tracking of as-built conditions as they occur.
Supports and coordinates efforts including job pre-planning, job set-up, crew assignments, change order management, resource management, quality control, scheduling, management of subcontractors and equipment, purchasing of materials, inventory management, and generating documentation. Coordinates all deliveries to the site with client, PM and Superintendent. Coordinates subcontractor mobilization and schedule of work with Superintendent and Project Team.
Coordinates the efforts of non-union labor and/or union carpenters, laborers, ironworkers, cement finishers, bricklayers, and boilermakers
Demonstrates strong time management & organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks
Gains exposure to construction repair projects within the commercial, public, industrial, power & utility markets and will be expected to learn means and methods related to concrete, masonry, high rise, and historic repair including the following: dry pack, form and cast in place, pre-placed aggregate, partial/full depth repair, form and pump, shotcrete, concrete overlays, post-tensioning repairs, grouting, stay cable, soffit repairs, rout and seal, membrane coatings, expansion joints, liquid/sheet waterproofing, epoxy injection, tuckpointing, strengthening composites and systems, basic rigging procedures, overhead protection, swing stage set-up, motorized equipment training, roof set-up, tieback systems, roof protection, suspension systems, electrical set-up, mast climbers, fall protection, scaffold tags, roof cranes, balcony lock-out, and all other methods assigned or required.
Learns and understand the business development process and will be expected to review branch marketing & business plans; develops a territory or plans to develop new business for the company; reviews primary marketing tools/resources/collateral; demonstrates the ability to communicate company services/capabilities to potential clients; learns how to use prospecting database, prospecting scripts, database letter process, proposal database, and other sales tools, qualifies various sales opportunities; learns how and when to sell a condition survey; and becomes involved with industry trade association(s). PE's will participate in BD meetings, sales calls, seminar facilitation, trade shows, Sales Team training events, and the development of other sales strategies and initiatives.
Learns the estimating process through participation in bid package reviews, contract reviews, pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings, bid document preparations, company proposal development, contract negotiations, vendor solicitation and negotiation, pre-qualification process, site inspections, bid follow up process, hand off meetings, formal bid opening, and bid qualifications development.
Prepares formal letters and other written communication to customer/owners
Prepares turnover checklists for shift work - distribute to project team and files
Acts diligently and proactively with Project Managers and Field Leaders to understand how the project is progressing, what changes have occurred on the projects - including changes with subcontractors, material suppliers, and the master construction manager or owner's schedules and assists project teams in developing carrying out solutions to address these changes. Stays informed on subcontractor QA/QC, scope of work, and technical specifications. Assists Superintendents in preparing daily contractor logs and distributes to project teams.
Stays actively involved in the day-to-day field work in order to understand the work being performed
Gains an understanding of the Office Manager and Administrative roles and responsibilities, new hire process, PE Career Development program, branch meeting facilitation tools/process, new user IT training process, branch Network Administration duties, IT file and server structure protocols, Comprehensus training tools, personnel management, annual review process, benefits management, contract administration, claims management, payroll process, A/P & financial tracking, collections management, Resource/Shop/Inventory management, and D.O.T requirements.
Uses action lists and seeks guidance from supervisor for prioritizing assigned tasks
Proactively utilizes the PECD competencies to monitor, track, and update personal progress through the PE Program with mentor/advocate regularly
Works with and may sometimes be the primary point of contact with the customer, including demanding customers who have many specific requests. Attends all required site meetings with the client (schedule, safety, coordination, planning, etc.) whether or not PM or Foreman/Superintendent are present. Records, distributes, and tracks action items resulting from team meetings
Assures all PPE required by safety specs and company policies is worn by employees, subcontractors and site visitors
Assure subcontractors are adhering to Company safety policies and culture
Attends daily and/or weekly safety Tool Box meetings and participates in Jobsite Safety Analyses (JSA)
Communicates expectations regarding our safety culture and holds employees accountable

Performs all work in compliance with Company's safety policies as well as industry standards

Reviews findings at end of the inspection with jobsite employees
Reviews subcontractor safety reports and assists in sharing progress with client and operations team
Reviews/audits all safety documentation and investigations and develops safety program changes

Trains project team members on how to properly conduct JSA's, SOR's and recognize near hits.
