To monitor the Access Control System and its related security systems to ensure connectivity and operational effectiveness. The jobholder is expected to check network of systems for any updated, repairs or maintenance using knowledge of WAN/LAN design to ensure a fully operational security barrier at all times. Liaises with specialist hardware and software vendors to keep abreast of latest security technologies.

Policies, Processes and Procedures

-              Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

Day- to-day operations

-              Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Technical Systems Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures

Access Control System

-              Manages operation of security system networks specifically the Access Control System and Security Monitoring System to ensure smooth operation of all security and related systems. This includes coordinating with the ITD department for any troubleshooting needs;

-              Works with the System Analyst and Programmer to integrate computer hardware and software systems required for all security & safety devices;

-              Creates and manages network profiles for new users to ensure access to security network is restricted to authorised personnel only. This includes monitoring the extent of resource sharing over the security network to enforce efficient operability.

Project assignments

-              Works with project teams during the design and installation of additional or new systems to ensure integration with current network and compliance with security protocols.

System enhancements

-              Liaises with hardware & software vendors to determine latest available technology so that all security systems continue to provide a reliable protective function;

-              Plans and undertakes the expansion of ISD network to ensure that the security system can cope with increasing load and bandwidth requirements;

-              Devices and undertakes regular updates to computers and network devices to ensure up-to-date functioning of operating systems and databases.

Reporting

-              Assists in the preparation of timely and accurate reports for section in order to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards

Safety, Health & Environment

-              Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
