Job Propose:Responsible for performing casting process simulations using MAGMA software to design gating, risering, and methoding design, identify and prevent casting defects, and optimize casting quality and yield. Supports design, pattern shop, and production teams by validating casting methods prior to pattern release, while maintaining simulation records and documentation as per company policy.
Key Responsibilities:Technical Perform casting process simulations using MAGMAsoft (filling, solidification, porosity, shrinkage, hot spots, temperature, velocity, etc.). Review customer drawings and 3D models and prepare simulation-ready geometries. Develop and validate gating and risering systems through simulation. Support pattern and core box design by providing simulation feedback before manufacturing. Conduct simulation-based what-if studies to optimize casting yield and quality. Correlate simulation results with foundry trials and production feedback. Attend regular meetings with Design, Casting, Pattern Shop, and Production teams. Troubleshooting and improvement of casting methoding and simulation process. Quality Supporting casting defect analysis and root cause investigation using simulation. Ensuring simulation practices comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements. Adhering to the EHS requirements for the design and simulation office. Supporting certification and qualification activities related to casting processes. Process Optimization Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance casting quality, yield, and cost-effectiveness. Implement optimized gating, risering, and process parameters based on simulation studies. Support implementation of new simulation techniques, software modules, or process improvements. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of simulation models, assumptions, and results. Prepare simulation reports, presentations, and technical justifications. Provide technical support for product documentation creation and review. Maintain simulation databases and standard practices. Technical support for sales team Supporting manufacturing feasibility review for RFQs using simulation input. Assisting in defining casting process concepts for estimation and quoting. Supporting technical discussions with customers when simulation justification is required. Adaptability to fulfill any other job responsibilities as required by the company.
Job Requirements:Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Materials Engineering. Minimum 10 years of proven experience in casting simulation using MAGMAsoft. Strong understanding of casting metallurgy, solidification, and defect mechanisms, hands-on experience is preferred Experience with steel & Alloy Steels and ductile iron castings preferred. Strong knowledge in 3D and 2D softwares Magma/SW/Ansys/Auto CADStrong knowledge in using reverse engineering tools Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial environments. Preferred Skills Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Prior experience in a similar role is highly preferred. Teamwork: Collaboration with engineers, designers, and other team members is often necessary, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
