Senior Irrigation Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, managing, and supervising all irrigation-related works for a PMC infrastructure project involving roads, bridges, and tunnels. The role ensures that irrigation systems are properly designed, installed, tested, and maintained in compliance with project specifications, sustainability requirements, and local authority standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve irrigation designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, and method statements submitted by contractors.


• Ensure irrigation designs are coordinated with road, bridge, tunnel, landscape, drainage, and utility works.


• Verify compliance with project specifications, international standards, and local authority requirements.

• Oversee implementation of irrigation systems including potable water, treated sewage effluent (TSE), and non-potable water networks.


• Review selection of irrigation equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, controllers, drip and sprinkler systems.


• Ensure efficient water use, system reliability, and ease of operation and maintenance.

• Coordinate irrigation works within road corridors, medians, shoulders, interchanges, bridges, and tunnel portals.


• Ensure irrigation systems do not impact structural elements, pavement performance, or tunnel safety systems.


• Review protection measures for irrigation networks crossing bridges and tunnel approaches.

• Supervise testing, flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning of irrigation networks and equipment.


• Review testing results and ensure rectification of defects or non-conformities.


• Review operation and maintenance manuals and provide input for long-term system sustainability.

• Liaise with contractors, landscape designers, utility authorities, and the client.


• Resolve irrigation-related technical issues and site constraints.


• Attend technical meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.

• Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.


• Review non-conformance reports (NCRs) and verify implementation of corrective actions.


• Ensure adherence to environmental and sustainability requirements related to water usage.

• Maintain records of irrigation approvals, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.


• Prepare periodic reports on irrigation progress, risks, and performance.


• Support authority approvals, audits, and client reviews.

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.


• Master’s Degree in Irrigation / Water Resources Engineering is preferred.


• Minimum 15 years of experience in irrigation engineering for infrastructure or landscape projects.


• Proven PMC or consultancy experience.


• Strong experience in road corridor irrigation and interface with bridges and tunnels.


• Knowledge of irrigation design standards, water management practices, and sustainability principles.


• Experience working with local authorities and utility providers.


• Excellent coordination, communication, and technical reporting skills.
