Job Purpose The Dive Center First Mate is a site-based operational role responsible for supporting the Dive Center Manager and Boat Captain in ensuring safe, smooth, and memorable diving and underwater tourism experiences. This position plays a key role in assisting with daily boat operations, maintenance, and guest service delivery, ensuring that all vessels are clean, fully functional, and ready for excursions. The First Mate contributes to creating a positive, professional, and safe environment for guests, while maintaining high standards for the boat, diving equipment, and dive center operations. Additionally, the role supports environmental stewardship initiatives, operational best practices, and continuous improvement in all aspects of dive center performance.
Key Responsibilities General Duties Assist the Dive Center Boat Captain with daily boat excursions, ensuring activities are conducted safely and professionally. Prepare the dive boat(s) for daily operations, ensuring cleanliness, presentation, and readiness. Support daily cylinder filling and general dive center organization, including equipment checks and maintenance. Work with Sustainability and SEZ departments to align operations with environmental and regulatory requirements. Support administrative and operational tasks as required, including office visits and reporting. Pre-Opening Responsibilities Collaborate with RSG departments during the Delivery stage to ensure operational readiness and timely project delivery. Familiarize with dive sites and local conditions within reach of the asset. Post-Opening Responsibilities Maintain safety as the highest priority for all diving and boat operations. Ensure all daily diving and boat activities are conducted in a professional, safe, and guest-focused manner. Be knowledgeable of diving protocols to efficiently manage diver pick-up and drop-off. Keep accurate records of boat maintenance, logs, and operational activities. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with managers, co-workers, and guests. Policies, Systems & Procedures Follow all dive center policies, SOPs, processes, and instructions to ensure controlled, consistent, and high-quality operations. Contribute to operational reporting and functional documentation as required. Safety, Quality & Environment Apply safety, quality, and environmental management policies to protect guests, staff, and equipment. Promote a responsible environmental approach and compliance with legislative standards. Continuous Improvement Identify and recommend improvements to dive center systems, processes, and practices, incorporating international best practices. Support initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, cost management, and productivity.

Job Requirements Qualifications & Experience Good knowledge of the Al Wajh Lagoon and surrounding dive sites. Hospitality and guest service experience, preferably with divers. Basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills for boats and outboards. Essential Skills Fluent in English; additional languages (preferably Arabic) are a plus. Strong customer service orientation with a proactive, “can-do” attitude. Flexible and adaptable to dynamic environments and tasks. Self-motivated, reliable, and able to meet deadlines. Highly detail-oriented and guest experience focused. Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and manage high-end clientele. Strong safety awareness, leadership qualities, and professionalism. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment and discretion. Interest in marine conservation and the ability to communicate this to guests. Able to deliver memorable, high-quality guest experiences. Desirable Skills Registered boat captain in Saudi Arabia. Advanced mechanical skills for outboard engines. Additional language proficiency (Arabic preferred).
