Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design process across complex industrial projects within the energy and petrochemical sectors. This role is critical to ensuring that all design disciplines deliver coordinated, compliant, and constructible design solutions that align with project objectives for safety, quality, cost, and schedule. The Design Manager will act as the technical interface between clients, consultants and internal teams, ensuring that design development supports efficient construction and long-term operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities Design Leadership & Coordination Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, and process disciplines. Ensure design packages are fully coordinated, clash-free, and aligned with construction methodologies. Lead design coordination meetings and technical workshops. Design Planning & Control Develop and manage the design programme in line with project milestones and construction schedules. Monitor progress of design deliverables and ensure timely submission and approval. Manage design changes, revisions, and technical deviations in a controlled manner. Technical Assurance & Compliance Review designs for constructability, operability, maintainability, and safety. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications (including international and client-specific requirements). Support and lead value engineering initiatives without compromising safety or performance. Interface & Stakeholder Management Act as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters with clients, licensors, consultants, vendors, and authorities. Coordinate technical queries (RFIs), design clarifications, and responses during both design and construction phases. Support authority submissions and technical approvals as required. Construction & Site Support Provide ongoing technical support to construction teams to resolve design-related issues. Review and manage shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents. Ensure accurate incorporation of approved changes into as-built documentation. Risk, Cost & Quality Management Identify design-related risks early and implement mitigation strategies. Support cost control by ensuring design decisions align with approved budgets. Promote quality management throughout the design lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering ( Mechanical, Electrical). Minimum 10–15 years of experience in design management within industrial, energy, or petrochemical projects. Proven experience working on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects. Strong understanding of engineering standards, construction methodologies, and industrial safety requirements. Experience working within EPC, PMC, or main contractor environments is preferred.
