The Structural Draftsman – Civil is responsible for preparing detailed structural drawings for high‑rise building projects, translating structural engineering designs into accurate, clear, and buildable drawings. The role requires strong experience in reinforced concrete and steel structures, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to international and local building codes.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings for high‑rise buildings, including:
- Foundations (raft, piled foundations, pile caps)
- Columns, shear walls, beams, slabs, core walls
- Staircases, lift pits, retaining walls, and podium structures
- Develop reinforcement detailing and bar bending schedules (BBS) in accordance with approved codes
- Produce shop drawings, construction drawings, and as‑built drawings
- Interpret structural design calculations, sketches, and specifications provided by structural engineers
- Coordinate with architectural, MEP, façade, and civil disciplines to resolve clashes and ensure constructability
- Revise and update drawings based on engineer comments, site conditions, and design changes
- Ensure compliance with international standards (ACI, BS, Eurocode) and applicable local codes
- Maintain proper drawing documentation, revisions, and version control
- Support engineers during construction stage coordination and technical clarifications
- Attend coordination meetings when required and assist in resolving site‑related issues
Experience in Middle East / GCC high‑rise projects
Exposure to tower buildings (30+ floors)
Knowledge of construction sequencing and site execution
Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection
Skills
Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Drafting
Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Structural Draftsman
- Proven experience working on high‑rise or tall building projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Hands‑on experience with Revit Structure / BIM is highly preferred
- In‑depth knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel detailing
- Strong understanding of high‑rise structural systems:
- Shear wall systems
- Core wall and outrigger systems
- Transfer beams and slabs
- Familiarity with ACI, BS, Eurocode, and local authority requirements
- Ability to read and interpret structural analysis and design calculations
