We are seeking a qualified Data Centre Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of mission-critical data centre projects across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role is responsible for developing compliant, reliable, and constructible engineering designs in accordance with local authority requirements and international standards.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary EPC environment, coordinating with internal engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.
Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for data centre facilities
- Design and coordinate electrical, mechanical, cooling, and fire/life safety systems
- Develop power distribution and redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N)
- Design cooling systems suitable for high ambient temperature conditions in Saudi Arabia
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), SEC, Saudi Civil Defence, and applicable international standards
- Coordinate with architectural, civil, structural, IT, and telecom disciplines
- Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and tender documentation
- Review contractor shop drawings, technical submittals, and material approvals
- Provide engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover
- Participate in technical reviews, authority inspections, and audits
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data centre or mission-critical facility design, preferably in hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centres
- Experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC
- Sound knowledge of MEP systems, redundancy concepts, and critical infrastructure design
Preferred
- Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration
- Experience with EPC or engineering consultancy environments
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier, TIA-942, ASHRAE, IEC, NFPA standards
- Experience in hyperscale, enterprise, or government data centre projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination
