Position Overview
ICS Arabia is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with strong expertise in hyperscale, colocation, and AI-ready data centers, as well as commercial and mixed-use developments. The role focuses on detailed electrical design, IFC deliverables, shop drawings, engineering calculations, and technical support during construction.
This position is suitable for an engineer who can independently develop compliant electrical designs in accordance with Saudi regulations and international data center standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop detailed electrical designs, IFC drawings, and shop drawings for:
o MV & LV power distribution systems
o UPS systems, generators, Busway, Panels, ATS, STS, PDUs
o Lighting, small power, earthing, and lightning protection
• Perform engineering calculations, including:
o Load calculations
o Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
o Raceway and cable sizing
• Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and material take-off
• Ensure compliance with applicable Saudi and international codes, including:
o Saudi Building Code (SBC)
o SEC requirements
o NEC / NFPA 70
o NFPA 75 & NFPA 76 (IT & mission-critical facilities)
o TIA-942-C (Data Centers)
o ASHRAE TC 9.9 (coordination with mechanical systems)
• Coordinate with mechanical, ICT/ELV, architectural, and structural teams to ensure fully integrated MEP designs
• Review and respond to technical submissions, vendor data sheets, and material submittals
• Provide engineering support during construction, resolving site technical queries and design clarifications
• Participate in authority submissions (SEC, Civil Defense, municipalities) as required
• Prepare and review technical reports throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
• More than 10 years of experience in electrical design for:
o Data centers (preferred)
o Commercial or mixed-use projects
• Proven experience in detailed design, IFC production, and shop drawings
• Strong knowledge of mission-critical electrical systems integration (UPS, cooling interfaces, BMS, DCIM, SCADA)
• Hands-on experience with:
o ETAP
o Dialux
o AutoCAD
o Electrical load and raceway sizing software
• Familiarity with Tier-based data center concepts (Tier III / IV exposure preferred)
• Fluent in English (mandatory)
