The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management, operation, and performance of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations, compliance with regulatory standards, and optimization of resources, while leading a team of engineers, technicians, and operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with water quality standards, environmental regulations, and health & safety (HSE) requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and manage plant personnel, including operators, engineers, and technicians.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment reliability.
- Monitor plant performance, analyze operational data, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare operational reports, budgets, and performance metrics for management review.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and SCADA teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Plan and oversee capital projects, upgrades, and expansions within the plant.
- Respond to emergencies, equipment failures, or abnormal operational conditions to maintain continuous water supply and wastewater treatment.
- Ensure proper documentation, SOPs, and records are maintained for regulatory compliance and audits.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, or Water/Wastewater Engineering or related discipline.
- 7–10+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment operations.
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, infrastructure, and plant operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, environmental compliance, and HSE best practices.
- Proven leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with SCADA, process monitoring, and plant automation systems (preferred).
