SUMMARY
Has responsibility for ensuring that materials supply equals demand, optimizing overall cost of Purchasing, supporting the business development effort with current and potential customers, and development / implementation of purchasing strategies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Has responsibility for Plant-wide steel structure purchasing activities.
· Develops and implements new purchasing strategies per unique customer requirements.
· Has responsibility for overall development of supplier relations and performance monitoring.
· Reviews and authorizes Terms and Conditions.
· Defines and monitors key metrics such as inventory turns.
· Has responsibility for ensuring that materials supply equals demand, optimizing overall cost of Purchasing.
· Ensures Operation’s execution to the company Supply Chain strategies.
· Supports the development of company Supply Chain strategies and systems.
· Indoctrinates the importance of having materials supply equal demand.
· Ensures that Materials Planners participate in determining MPS loading to create a realistic commitment that best supports customer needs.
· Maintains a disciplined process to ensure materials availability to support production activities per the Master Production Schedule without creating materials liability for the company.
· Disconnects between materials supply and requirements such as shortages, non-conformance, high stocks, and excess/obsolete materials are continuously monitored and eliminated.
· Drives down overall cost of materials including component pricing, freight expenses, administration expenses, materials liability, and high stock.
· Assures that component purchase price should be projected to accurately reflect the inventory value for the financial period in Standard Costing process.
· Ensures that MPV is optimized. Ensures that quoted cost to the customer is competitive yet maximizes the amount of favorable Materials Price Variance (MPV).
· Ensures all purchase orders are placed with pricing and terms & conditions that are negotiated and agreed to by company management team.
· Ensures that Operation’s supply base contributes to success of the Operation and that suppliers are selected based on overall cost effectiveness and their ability to meet the company`s requirements.
· Monitors, tracks, and provides feedback on suppliers’ performance on overall cost, delivery, and quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor's Degree Required in Materials Logistics Management, Business Administration or equivalent discipline.
· At least 5 years’ experience with at least 2 years in material purchasing role in steel structure parts and related product purchasing experience.
· APICS, NAPM, or CPM certifications preferred.
