The Safety Engineer plays a critical role in the construction industry by designing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety systems to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. The Safety Engineer is responsible for identifying hazards, conducting engineering risk assessments, and developing effective preventive and control measures. The role involves close coordination with project teams, site management, and stakeholders to ensure safety compliance and reduce accidents and occupational risks.

Skills

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site health and safety plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety inspections, and prepare technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and work permits from a safety engineering perspective.
  • Provide safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks for site personnel.
  • Monitor site activities and recommend engineering and administrative controls for unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate with government and local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Propose corrective and preventive engineering solutions to enhance site safety performance.
  • Provide technical safety advice and support to project management.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, records, permits, and reports.
