We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant with a background in contracting and project-based environments.
The candidate will be responsible for analyzing project costs, monitoring budget performance, and providing accurate financial insights to support effective project management and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project-related costs including materials, labor, subcontractor invoices, equipment usage, and overhead allocations.
- Prepare detailed project cost reports, including budget vs. actual analysis, cost forecasts, and variance explanations.
- Monitor project budgets and support project managers in identifying cost overruns and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Maintain accurate cost codes and ensure all costs are properly allocated to the correct projects and cost centers.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reviews, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support tendering and estimation teams by providing historical cost data and assisting in pricing new projects.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier costs to ensure accuracy and alignment with contractual terms.
- Oversee inventory and material tracking for construction sites and warehouses.
- Prepare and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) for contracting projects.
- Collaborate with procurement, project management, and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate cost data flow.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance cost control and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant within contracting companies (required).
- Strong understanding of project costing, cost control.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
