Job Purpose:

Responsible for providing guidance and insights on Connection Services that could be leveraged across TRSUC. The Senior Manager will be responsible for facilitating the connection of new customers to the water and wastewater system, and overseeing for existing connections ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and TRSUC and RSG standards.  

The role will be required to design connection networks across the wet utilities and ensure reliable connections across the different sites.  

The role will need to be aware of any advancements in the wet utility connections and bring in enhancements in TRSUC for the same.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Contribution 

• Develop functional strategies & roadmaps to come up with tailored solutions around connection services thereby aligning with the overall strategic intent of the organization and regulatory requirements.  

• Prepare business development strategy for the function and originate opportunities to accelerate project pipeline on renewable energy systems, battery technologies, power electronics, and control systems. 

Functional  

• Provide complete technical support on the detailed designs of various pipe lines associated with water related projects which include potable water network, fire and irrigation water network, waste water collection systems 

• Share expertise on detailed designs of potable water network, fire water, drainage networks, storm water and waste water collection systems 

• Share expertise on Produce detailed designs of Sewage Treatment Plant, Reverse Osmosis Plant, Lift Stations and Pumping Stations 

• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify the suitability of proposed connection locations and assess any potential impacts on existing infrastructure. 

• Provide guidance and support to customers throughout the connection process, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring timely completion of all required tasks. 

• Maintain accurate records of connection requests, permits, inspections, and other relevant documentation using company databases and software systems. 

• Stay informed about changes in regulations, technology, and best practices related to wet utilities and connection services, and incorporate relevant updates into departmental procedures. 

• Ensure maintenance and periodic inspection of wet connections with the support of external vendors, with oversight from the maintenance team 

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports 

• Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.  

• Maintain relevant functional logs and documentation as mandated by the various statutory and regulatory laws and provide regular statistical reports / MIS on solutions developed to the senior management team

Risk Management 

• Identify different aspects of risk associated and develop mitigation measures to negate or minimize the effect of these risks 

• Conduct risk assessments, process safety management, and regulation compliance on wet utility connections 

• Ensure decisions are made in accordance with ERM policy and guidelines 

Safety, Quality & Environment  

• Apply safety, quality and environmental management policy, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude 

• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate wet connections in a safe and environment focused manner 

• Conduct testing and commissioning of wet connections to verify performance, functionality, and safety requirements. 

• Identify and address technical challenges and optimization opportunities during system integration and testing phases. 

Relationship Management 

• Collaborate with government agencies, industry associations, research institutions, and other key stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships and drive collaborative initiatives 

• Engage with customers, utilities, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to promote awareness and support for connection service initiatives. 

• Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and working groups focused  

Continuous Improvement    

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities within for continuous improvement of the TRSUC function’s systems, processes and practices considering international best practice, business process improvement, cost reduction and productivity improvement 

• Stay aware of the latest developments in connection technology and advancements 

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in civil/ mechanical engineering or a related field  

• Minimum 8-12 years of experience in wet connection services in utility services, preferably in the off-grid sector 

• Good understanding of wet utility policies, regulations, and market dynamics at the local, regional and international levels
